#maptimeDavis Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Mapathon

When: October 1st, 2018 @ 1:00 – 3:00 pm
Location: DSI Classroom (360 Shields Library)
Prerequisite: No experience necessary!  Bring a laptop (and we recommend a mouse).

About: #maptimeDavis OpenStreetMap Humanitarian Mapathon will support disaster planning and relief by creating data needed for humanitarian efforts such as identifying roads and communities in satellite imagery.  We’ll start with an introduction for all levels of experience to the Humanitarian Open Street Map Task Editor, then we’ll pick a few tasks to work on as a group.  Our last mapathon contributed data to Crowd2Map to provide road and building data to help rescue workers find women in need of intervention before their communities commit FGM.  Anyone can contribute!   Interested? Please stop by at anytime with your laptop!

Bonus: We have Stickers!

How to prepare:

  1. Register for Event
  2. Bring Laptop
  3. Optional – Create an OSM account and start the walk through

#maptime Davis is brought to you by the UC Davis Library’s Data Management Program & the UC Davis Center for Spatial Sciences with help from several campus clubs and informal learning groups.  Space is generously provided by the Data Science Initiative (DSI).
